Addor is a town nestled on the southern edge of Pinebluff. It was once a bustling hub for lumber and turpentine workers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Back in 1890, Addor was the second largest town in Moore County, boasting a population of 295 residents. Today, Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills is committed to honoring this historical significance by empowering families and fostering community strength through affordable housing solutions in Addor.

We have had the chance to meet Addor residents like John Bright, Karen Reese May, and Lorine McCants, a lifelong Addor resident nearing 95 years of age. We learned about the history of Addor, including stories about the local Rosenwald school and the festivities of Addor Day. Now, we are learning how the residents of Addor want to lead the effort to restore pride in the area with new and improved homes. We invite you to become part of the discussion and solution – your input matters, and your help is needed.

Hardcore Volunteers who Contribute over 5,000 hour of Time and Talent

Sandhills Habitat is proud to announce that two roads in the Bright Meadows community was named after dedicated volunteers who have invested over 5,000 hours of their time in our cause: Freida May Lane and Nancy Court. We recognize the immense value of our volunteers and their contributions to our mission of creating affordable housing solutions. The road naming is a way to express our gratitude and appreciation for their dedication and hard work.
