We had several new faces join us at the Habitat Kick-Off meeting for the new build on 387 Green Lake Road in Rockingham. Thank you to all who came out to join us and will be helping us reach out to Richmond County community. Special thanks to Toni Maples for leading our fund development efforts and to Melissa Staub for heading up the volunteer efforts for the next Habitat home. Together, we can bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
Habitat will partner with Fati Brown, a marine veteran raising his daughters and a granddaughter, to build this home. Once Fati has completed his 300 sweat equity hours he will qualify for an affordable mortgage.
Our first fundraiser will be the Womanless Pageant – last year’s event was a huge hit, and we look forward to a fantastic time again! Can you recruit a fun man to participate in the Womanless pageant? If you think you have a candidate, please let Toni Maples know at 910-206-5595 or firstname.lastname@example.org
The build will begin September 11th to coincide with the United Way Day of Caring. We are filling Fridays and Saturdays for building following September 11th . Build days are 8:30-3:30 and Groups and individuals are needed to fill in the build days – no prior skill needed. Once again the traveling home builders we lovingly refer to as the RVers will be building the first couple of weeks in October.
Can you reach out to a workplace, a church group, a neighborhood of friends or some other awesome group to join us for a day on the site? Serving as the captain for build days is an important role – and it even gets you a special thank you gift from Habitat if you recruit at least 10 volunteers for the day! If you have a possible group, please let Melissa Staub know at 910-995-4394 or email@example.com
Richmond County has a stellar record for volunteering as proven in the build for the Ellis and Nikki Pittman in Hamlet. Please join hands once again to help Fati Brown, and his family, build a place to call home in Rockingham.
