It is our hope that your church will join other churches in Moore County to serve as a partner with Habitat to raise the $70,000 and the 2,460 volunteer hours needed to build this home.
Every congregation no matter how big or small is vital to this build. Without the support of the community Habitat would not be able to accomplish its mission in partnering with families, volunteers and the community to build houses, communities and future generations.
Churches can contribute on various levels by pledging funds that can be paid through 2018. We would be happy to come and speak to your congregation about Habitat and the 2018 Faith Build for Unity, as well as homeownership, repair ministry and volunteer opportunities at Habitat.
What does it take to build a Habit House?
We have challenged the Faith community to rally and help us raise $70,000, the average construction cost to build a home. We recognize that every congregation is a different size and has different resources.
All alone it would be difficult to fund and build a Habitat house.
Below are some ideas that can help you raise money and awareness.
Serve up your congregation’s favorite dinner or desserts
Plan a social and spice it up with a speaker, singer or performers.
Distribute Habitat House Banks and Fundraising Calendars
Children learn to count their blessings and join in the giving as they collect money based on the conveniences in their homes. Ask a Habitat staff member on how to receive these materials.
Plan a special “Love Offering”
Designate a specific Sunday, a holiday, a month or fifth Sunday as a time for special Sandhills Habitat offering. Be sure to publicize this early!
Try the “Tried and True”
Bake sales, auctions, bingo, pancake breakfast, clean up days for donations as they are still great fund-raisers.
Game Night for Teens
Plan a special night for teens with Dunking Booth for donations, a dance-athon, corn hole contest, Karaoke contest
We will provide your choice of golf clubs, china sets, artwork, and you sell the raffle tickets.
Remember that the number one rule for getting people to give, is to ask.
Here are some of the ways our faith partners contribute to our mission:
An Apostles Build project is when churches come together to build a Habitat for Humanity home. They raise the money and provide the labor and prayer support to build a house in partnership with a local family. The idea of going out into the community to serve others, in the way that Jesus’ apostles served, has attracted individuals in many churches. With Habitat for Humanity, churches can share God’s love by building homes. Thanks to this new group of Habitat volunteers, another family in your community will enjoy the blessings of a simple, decent home.

Several churches and organizations like the VFW and American Legion have teams of dedicated resources that repair homes in our communities. These teams help low-income homeowners who are affected by age, disability or family circumstances and struggle to maintain the integrity of their homes through our Repair Ministry.
